About Lord Vishnu
- Vishnu is the Hindu god of preservation and is often referred to as the “sleeping god.” He is often depicted as reclining on a coiled serpent or a lotus flower, with his wife Lakshmi massaging his feet. There are many stories and legends about why Vishnu is always sleeping, but the most common one is that he is in a constant state of meditation, which allows him to maintain balance in the universe.
In Vastu Shastra, the traditional Indian architectural system, the placement of statues, including the sleeping Vishnu statue, is believed to have an impact on the energy and harmony of a space. Here are some suggestions for placing a sleeping Vishnu statue according to Vastu principles:
Direction: The ideal direction to place a sleeping Vishnu statue is the east or west direction. Placing it in these directions is believed to bring positive energy and spiritual growth to the occupants of the space.
Sleeping Position: The statue of Lord Vishnu should ideally be in a reclining or sleeping position. This symbolizes rest, relaxation, and peacefulness. The deity’s right side should face upwards, and the left side should face towards the ground.
Altar or Puja Room: It’s recommended to place the sleeping Vishnu statue in a dedicated altar or puja room. This space should be clean, well-organized, and spiritually charged. Avoid placing it in bedrooms or spaces where there is negativity or clutter.
- The best way to maintain the statue is to simply dust the piece periodically to keep any dirt from accumulating. They can be used for both indoor and outdoor use. You can use a cotton cloth to periodically, go over the statue/sculpture to remove any dust or dirt buildup. You can use a small brush to get into the small crevices of the statue like the hands and hair.
